I’ve mentioned this before, but lately I’ve been looking for fun, quiet activities that I can do with Bug while Baby Emma takes her morning nap (we babysit Baby Emma every Tuesday). This was a super fun activity, but turned out to be much messier than I had intended. I should have figured that my boy would have wanted to cover his body with the oodles of bubbles that we created. I’m all about messy. However, washing a toddler off while a hungry baby is waking up from her nap is tricky. Hoses are handy. Also, toddlers that can take off their own wet clothes. At least I have one of those two things.
Here’s what you need to make Bubble Snakes:
- a plastic bottle
- an old washcloth
- rubber bands
- dish soap
- water
- small container (Tupperware or a plastic bowl)
Cut the bottom off of the bottle.
Cut a piece out of the washcloth that will overlap the bottle by a couple of inches all around. Rubber band the washcloth around the bottle. That was hard, wasn’t it?
Mix together soap & water in a 2:1 ratio (2 soap: 1 water). Soak the bottom of your new bubble blower in the soap mixture, put to your mouth and blow! Bug had a hard time with blowing out. He kept trying to suck in. Let it be known that the bubbles will suck up into your mouth. Luckily I figured that out before he ate any bubbles. So, we ended up with me blowing the bubbles and Bug playing with them. Either way, we had a blast with this activity!

This looks pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing. I can’t imagine my kid blowing hard on the bottle either, considering he still blows so gently when trying to blow bubbles haha. But like you said, I can take over blowing the bubbles.
Yeah… I’ll have to admit that I got a little lightheaded after so much bubble blowing!
